Who and What is Proprius?
Proprius is a nonprofit organization, the first of its kind in the Pikes Peak Region, run and operated as a cooperative by a collective of providers -- teachers, professionals, artists, business owners, civic leaders, musicians, experienced professionals, parents, and students. We serve elementary age through high school, and beyond. We exist to provide the viable education option of self-directed learning for students looking to accelerate or design their own education, outside of or beyond traditional school.
What does it look like?
You can find your self-directed way with the classes, workshops, tutoring, mentoring, internships, etc. offered through our cooperative of providers (see our calendar). Or, if you're looking for a more regular, daily/weekly program, you can register for our drop off "HomeBase" program (more info here). There, with guidance from advisers or mentors, our interest-based environment provides students space and time to explore both academic and vocational subjects. At Proprius, you are allowed to pursue and master self-defined personal, educational or professional goals.
Why Self-Directed Learning?
Self-directed learning cultivates our young people's desire to engage in community development and lead positive world change.
When Can I Start?
You can register with us any time. Our cooperative of Providers offer their services year round. Check out our calendar for classes and events you can register for now. Our HomeBase program runs from September through May, but you can join us anytime in those nine months. Are you ready to direct your own way? Give us a call for an appointment to chat about your options: 719-445-6703.
